Italy 2014

Domenica

Abbiamo mangiato la colazione in casa e poi siamo andati alla stazione di treni per compare i biglietti per martedì. (We ate breakfast at the house and then we went to train station to buy tickets for Tuesday).  No windows were open so we had to use "fast ticket" - that is a machine that issues you tickets - we figured it out and it was very efficent !

Walking back to the center of the city Dow spotted a trattoria that was listed in a printout left in our room.  Only locals there so we said yes. No English, and there were a couple of words we did not know but, ordered anyway. WOW what a meal. They must have made the pasta that morning. No smokers by us so we got lucky.

Went back to the room to email the host in Firenze (Florence) our schedule so they would be home when we arrive on Tuesday. The train from Lucca to Prato to Bologna took over 2 hours. The veloce treno (high speed train)  from Bologna to Firenze takes 30 minutes and there are no stops.

Walked to the center of the city where many events were taking place. Protesting for the environment, martial arts demos, balli di gruppo (group dancing), bands and artists. The dance class had a great back drop and Jimmy, one of our dance teachers, would love to be here with all the line dancing. Sorry Jimmy you will have to pay your own way!

Stopped for some wine on the way home, and had some of the complementary "appetizers" - mostly differnt stuff on pieces of bread!
