Italy 2014

We slept late and when Dow discovered that I had left the camera on the patio – I was upset. Upset at myself.  Tried to dry it out but, an impossible task. IPhone and iPad to the rescue. Piove questa mattina. (raining in the morning) We have been coming to Lucca for 5 years and have not had much rain here, hopefully this trip will not be too different.

There was a pause in the rain so out we go.  We walked the wall and then it started to rain hard - when were half way around.  As far  from the apartment as we could have been. We got soaked! Dried out at Da Giulio - a restaurant near the wall, and very close to our apartment. Had a good meal, then soaked and full we headed home. In the afternoon we dried out. We had umbrellas, but, pants and shoes were not protected.

By late afternoon the rain stopped so we headed out to reaquaint ourselves with different  parts of Lucca. Wonderful city with narrow streets, restaurants tucked away, old churches and interesting shops of all kinds. This a very old city - here is the history of Lucca.

Our apartment is  in a residential part of town, very nice, quiet, but a longer walk to most of the restaurants we like and also to Via Fillungo - the "fifth avenue" of Lucca - which is fun to stroll in the afternoon or evening.  New streets to explore on our daily walks.

Happy hour inside - listening to Bocelli on the iPhone!
