Italy 2014

Martedì

Oggi è stato pazzo. (Today was crazy)

Long day but all is well...we left for train station at 8:15am and arrived at. 8:45am.   Stood around in the lobby until shortly after 9 then started looking for our " track".  It was track 6 and we went there. Dow checked with someone there and they said no, it is another track. So we went looking all over. Whew - crazy...we were all over the place - very confusing  - luckily we found it at 9:50am with train leaving at 10:03am. The amazing thing is it was the same track we were on in the beginning. We could not miss this train as we had an assigned seat and would lose the fare not to mention time.

Arrived in Florence in 40 minutes and found the right bus. As we approached our stop an old lady (same dress as my great grandmother) got in our way and the doors closed before we could get off. That would not happen again. Luckily it was not too far to the next stop and when we departed I pushed my way past the old lady and said “exusa”, left her in the dust and we were off. It was a fairly short walk back. Score one for the tourists.

Nice apartment - more what we expected as opposed to a room in someone's house which is what we had in Bologna.  But that one was fine too!

Walked to a tiny restaurant our host told us about. He said it is all locals and he was right.  2 meals with 2 courses each and wine - 24 euros total.  Least expensive meal we have ever had in Italy!

The walked to the Ponte Vecchio - lots of tourists there! We are away from all that here - very residential area but one could walk or take a bus to major attractions.
