Quattordici settembre lunedì ( September 14 Monday)

The rain is gone for now so out for a walk on the wall and to do some shopping. Abbiamo comprato del pane, salumi, formaggi e frutta (we bought some bread, cold cuts, cheese and fruit). One of the breads we bought was buccellato (click here for an explantion) a special bread made in Lucca. This is our third loaf so far. Dow eats the ends and I finish the rest. We had lunch at Cantine Bernardini. Another great meal. Primo, Dow ha preso carpaccio di manzo ( Dow had slices of raw beef parmesan cheese flakes on a bed of salad). Secondo, lei ha preso tordelli  con ragù (home made ravioli with pork and beef). Primo, ho preso farro alla Luchese (house bean soup-a famous soup here) e secondo, ho preso il piatto speciale - pasta al tartufo ( and second, I had the pasta with truffles - the special). Everytime the waiter would bring by the special to another table you could smell the beautiful aroma of truffles.

Took a stroll in the evening then snacks on the patio. We had some worries about our cat Crosby, but, our house sitter, Carol is on top of it - taking him to the vet last week.  Again this week Scott and Brenda have been wonderful in taking him to the vets and back again twice and also giving Geno his needed walks. We can not thank them enough. Grazie Mille !!!!
